NIKSUN’s James Van Bokkelen, VP Security Forensics, and Dr. Parag Pruthi, Founder and CEO, to Speak at ISS World Americas in Washington, DC.

Washington, DC, October 12, 2010 — NIKSUN®, a premier provider of high-end real-time network surveillance solutions for enterprises, government agencies and service providers, is pleased to announce the company’s participation in ISS World Americas, in which NIKSUN’s James Van Bokkelen and Dr. Parag Pruthi will be guest speakers. ISS World Americas 2010, being held at Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center on October 11th-13th, is the world's largest gathering of North American, Caribbean and Latin American law enforcement, intelligence, homeland security analysts and telecom operators responsible for network monitoring, lawful interception, incident investigations and forensics.

NIKSUN’s James Van Bokkelen, VP of Security Forensics, will be speaking at ISS World Americas 2010 on a panel entitled DPI for Lawful Interception, Network Security and Traffic Management. “When I first got involved in the Internet, analyzing and understanding traffic took second place behind making it interoperable in the first place,” said James Van Bokkelen. “These days, interoperability issues tend to be more political than technical, but forensic analysis and presentation of traffic has become a truly fascinating area.”

On Wednesday, October 13th, Dr. Parag Pruthi will give a presentation entitled, “Network Surveillance: Protecting Critical Assets” where he will discuss techniques for cyber security defense in a global environment. Threats from cyber attacks are increasing at an alarming rate and are beginning to impact each and every nation. Cyber security and interception create various challenges such as: interception at very high network traffic rates, storage and collection of data in an organized and scalable manner, data mining of the information to determine intelligence of interest, and appropriate security measures to protect and audit the use of the collected data. Dr. Pruthi, considered by many to be a thought-leader in the cyber defense industry, has long been spearheading research and development for scalable security solutions in which interception, analytics, and intelligence play a very important role. During his presentation, Dr. Pruthi will not only describe these challenges faced by governments and corporations today, but will also describe existing technologies and methods to overcome these challenges. Dr. Pruthi will further elaborate on his vision for the evolution of such technologies over the next three to five years.

“My passion is to create a unified and holistic solution for end-to-end network security while guaranteeing end-to-end service delivery,” said Dr. Pruthi. “This requires successfully integrating seemingly disparate scientific disciplines such as chaos theory, fractal analytics, data warehousing, data mining, parallel processing, and hierarchical distributed computing. As all of these components are unified in a harmonious and scalable manner, we are achieving the true Tivo® and Google™ for the network. Such solutions are allowing law enforcement personnel, homeland security analysts, service providers and others to find real intelligence amongst the terabytes and petabytes of raw data that would otherwise not be analyzable and minable in time to stop potential attacks against the homeland.”
