Princeton, NJ, May 21, 2012 — NIKSUN® Inc., the world leader in real time and forensics-based cybersecurity and network monitoring solutions, announced today that Dr. Parag Pruthi, NIKSUN Founder, Chairman, and CEO, provided the keynote address at the 2012 IEEE Sarnoff Symposium. The topic, “Cybersecurity Defense: Challenges and State-of-the-Art,” was presented on Monday May 21st at 8:50am.

Dr. Pruthi’s keynote focused on the problem of exponential malware growth rates that are disrupting governments and businesses alike. New modes of computing, such as mobile devices and cloud computing, introduce additional network vulnerabilities. Many attackers are motivated by financial gain, but some may also be perpetrating cyber terrorism or state sponsored espionage. These increasingly sophisticated attacks require a new paradigm for surveillance, detection, and defense. As part of his keynote, Dr. Pruthi provided an overview of the threat landscape, its implications on society, and state-of-the-art solutions to defend against these evolving new threats.

“I think Dr. Pruthi’s presentation was a very exciting and interesting one as he covers topics of critical interest for cybersecurity,” said Prof. Rojas-Cessa, Associate Professor, New Jersey Institute of Technology. “These technologies are expected to enable information assurance on e-commerce and leverage consumer confidence on Internet commerce and data privacy for Internet users in general. I think this was a great opportunity for attendees to catch up with this topic as Dr. Pruthi shared with us his well-known expertise.”

The IEEE Sarnoff Symposium 2012, in its 35th year, is now of age, starting from just a one day conference to multiple days covering a broad spectrum of current and new technologies and their applications. Dr. Pruthi’s keynote address opened up the first day of the symposium. “Dr. Parag Pruthi’s contributions to the advancement of Science and Technology through his company NIKSUN are well recognized by his peers, and he will continue to make history and have a major impact on the network monitoring industry,” said Dr. Elias Kpodzo, L-3 Communications TE. “We are very grateful for his continuing support for the IEEE Sarnoff Symposium.”

Dr. Parag Pruthi is widely recognized as the founding father of packet capture, stream to disk, bit vacuum, and other similar technologies that he has patented. A leading innovator in the field of cybersecurity, he introduced the only device in the world capable of multi gigabit per second line rate recording and simultaneous analysis, reconstruction, and replay. NetDetector leads the industry in discovering the source of security incidents and identifying information leakage in real time. This invention led to the creation of the now flourishing field of network forensics.

Recognized as one of the foremost global experts in advanced cybersecuritytechnologies, Dr. Pruthi advises the highest levels of governments and enterprises on cyber defense strategies. He is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity issues, including keynotes to delegates, agencies, and strategic commands at the NATO Information Assurance Symposium 2010 and 2011.

Dr. Pruthi has received many honors, is interviewed frequently by news and media, and has written various articles on a diverse set of topics. Notable were his interview with General Norman Schwarzkopf on Cybersecurity which aired on CNBC and various other media outlets, Silicon India Magazine's September 2011 cover story "Securing You Against The Unknown", and a featured story in CIO Review's inaugural issue (April-May 2012). His peers at the IEEE honored him in 2011 with the IEEE Region 1 Award of Managerial Excellence for his Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Cybersecurity Vision.

The 35th IEEE Sarnoff Symposium is being held at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, New Jersey. NIKSUN will be showcasing its industry leading technology to demonstrate how you can better manage and secure your information systems and infrastructure.
